Tuna Jackpot and PGA TOUR share Los Cabos spotlight as Baja 1000 nears

Fishing day two of the Tuna Jackpot is Friday, the PGA TOUR is at Diamante, skies are clear, and the tropics are quiet.

Tonight's report

¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! It's Lobo, live from the studio, and tonight's show is presented by Cabo Lifestyle Homes. The Tuna Jackpot is on, the pros are teeing off at Diamante, and the Baja One Thousand is just days away.

Tropics first, and they're quiet, amigos. No storms out there, and nothing the Hurricane Center is watching as of this morning's outlook.

Quick update, I got a smartwatch. It keeps telling me to stand up. I keep telling it, amigo, that is not my department. Okay, weather.

Sunset tonight is at five thirty-nine. Seventy-nine at six, then clear skies, seventy-four by eight and seventy-one at midnight. No rain, and an overnight low of sixty-six.

Mañana, Friday, partly cloudy, a high of eighty-six and a low of sixty-six, light wind around seven miles an hour, no rain, and the water at eighty-eight degrees. Saturday, eighty-five with a few showers. Sunday, eighty-six.

Warm days, cool nights, amigos. Perfecto.

Peso Check, as of today. One U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point six pesos, and one Canadian dollar about thirteen point three. Exchange houses and shops in town usually pay a little less, so ask before you swap.

Now, let's check the surf, amigos!

NOAA's wave model has tomorrow morning around four point eight feet offshore, out of the west at fourteen seconds, and holding steady.

Spot Check. Pacific side off Cerritos, about five feet. The Corridor, Zippers and Old Man's, about four. East Cape, Punta Perfecta, La Fortuna and Nine Palms, about two point seven. The Pacific side shows the most.

Those are offshore model numbers, not what's breaking at the beach, so take a look at your spot before you paddle out.

Fishing tonight comes from East Cape Concierge, setting up Baja off-road days for every level, from a guided ATV tour to a high-performance UTV run, plus UTV rentals. Plan ahead and send your ideas to eastcapeconcierge.com.

Lands End Charters' report from Sunday: back out Friday after Tropical Storm Vance, one crew put three wahoo on the deck and Big Kahuna II added dorado. Cabo San Lucas water, about eighty-five.

Over on the San José side, Gordo Banks Pangas' report from Sunday has finicky but decent tuna at the Inner and Outer Gordo, mostly fifty to one hundred pounds, plus a two hundred twenty-six pound yellowfin on Sunday.

With the Tuna Jackpot on right now, every captain in Cabo is hoping that fish has a big brother. Mañana night brings a thin waning crescent moon.

For tomorrow, the wind is light, around seven miles an hour out of the east-southeast, and the offshore swell is holding steady near four point eight feet.

¿Qué pasa, Cabo? Here's what's happening around town.

Right now out of the Cabo San Lucas marina, it's the WON Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot. Fishing day two is mañana, with weigh-ins on the marina each afternoon, and that's where the action is. Awards dinner Saturday at the cruise ship pier.

And the PGA TOUR is at Diamante! Round one is still going, and Chris Kirk leads at nine under, with Nick Dunlap right behind at eight under and a crowd tied for third at seven under, according to ESPN's leaderboard.

Birdies flying all over Diamante today, amigos.

The SCORE Baja One Thousand comes to San José del Cabo next week. Qualifying Tuesday, a free midway on Boulevard Centenario Wednesday and Thursday, and the race starts next Friday from Avenida Centenario.

Big week coming for San José, amigos. Road closures aren't announced yet, and we'll keep you posted.

Dreaming of a casa in Los Cabos? Cabo Lifestyle Homes, powered by Ronival Real Estate, led by Kirk and Cindy Iverson, knows Querencia, Quivira and Cerritos, and guides you through buying in Mexico. cabolifestylehomes.com.

Is your neighborhood up to something good? A school fundraiser, a new taco stand, a paddle-out? Send it to Lobo at loboloscabos.com slash tell.

If you've got a friend flying down for the race or the tuna, send them this show, hit like, and follow Lobo Los Cabos. That's the tide report. Sal y sol, Cabo.
