Tropical Storm Vance stays far south of Los Cabos as rain moves in
Vance is about 665 miles southeast of Los Cabos with no watches in effect. Showers arrive Monday, heavy rain follows, and Baja 1000 pre-running is on.
Tonight's report
¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! It's Lobo Los Cabos, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by Sancho's. Tonight, a tropical storm way down south, rain in our forecast, and Baja one thousand trucks already on the roads.
Hope your Sunday was good. Mine was the usual: nap on the rock, flip over, nap on the other side. Okay, let's check the tropics.
As of the three p.m. Central advisory, Tropical Storm Vance has top winds of seventy miles an hour. It's about three hundred fifteen miles west-southwest of Acapulco.
That puts it about six hundred sixty-five miles southeast of Los Cabos, moving north-northwest at seven miles an hour. NHC expects it to slow down, drift northwest, then turn north around midweek.
NHC forecasts gradual weakening over the next several days, fading to a remnant low by late this week, and there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. They do say the track and the strength are still uncertain, so we'll keep watching it for you.
For our neighbors on the mainland, Vance brings heavy rain, and NHC warns its swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip currents along southern and southwestern Mexico.
Through Thursday, NHC says two to four inches of rain, isolated seven, across Colima, Nayarit and Sinaloa, plus western Michoacán, Jalisco and Durango, with possible flooding and mudslides.
Here at home, órale, the Baja one thousand is already rolling.
Mexico News Daily says pre-running started yesterday. Teams are scouting the Cabo to Cabo course, up the East Cape through La Paz and Loreto, and back down past Todos Santos and El Pescadero.
So if you see race trucks on the dirt roads or the highway, drive carefully and give them room.

Mañana, Monday: showers around, a high of eighty-five, a low of seventy, and a southeast breeze about eight miles an hour. Water's eighty-eight. Tuesday, heavy rain and eighty-seven. Wednesday, heavy rain and eighty-five.
Rain doesn't bother me, amigos, I'm already wet. You folks, keep an umbrella handy.
Peso Check, as of Friday: one U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point eight pesos, a Canadian dollar about thirteen point four. Your dollars go a little further than last week. Shops in town usually give a bit less, so check first.
Alright surfers, here's what the ocean is doing.
NOAA's wave model has about six feet offshore tomorrow morning, at twelve seconds from the southeast, holding steady.
Spot Check: Pacific side by Cerritos, about five feet. The Corridor, Zippers and Old Man's, about six, the most swell. East Cape, about five. Those are offshore model numbers, so check your spot.
That swell has some push, so if you're not experienced, pick a mellow spot or enjoy it from the sand.
Fishing: water at eighty-eight degrees and a full moon tomorrow night. The morning wind looks light, but there's some swell rolling through.
Coming up in Los Cabos, it's a big stretch.
Día de Muertos Los Cabos starts in six days, this Saturday on Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas. The PGA TOUR at Diamante kicks off in eight, and Baja one thousand race week in fifteen.
Mark your calendars, amigos.
