Tropics

The tropics are quiet tonight. There are no storms, and the National Hurricane Center is not watching any area, according to its outlook issued this morning.

Tonight and tomorrow's weather

Sunset tonight is at 5:40 PM. Expect 80°F (27°C) and cloudy at 6 PM, clearing to 75°F (24°C) by midnight, with no rain and an overnight low of 74°F (23°C).

Tuesday brings partly cloudy skies, a high of 84°F (29°C) and a low of 69°F (21°C). A south-southeast breeze of around 11 mph is expected, with no rain. The water temperature is 88°F (31°C).

Wednesday should reach 86°F (30°C), and Thursday 84°F (29°C) with a lighter breeze. It stays partly cloudy all the way through.

Surf and Spot Check

NOAA's wave model has a northwest swell building to 4.3 ft at 21 seconds on Tuesday morning.

By area, the Pacific side near Cerritos shows 4.4 ft and the Corridor 4 ft. The East Cape shows the most at 5.1 ft, but at a short 6 seconds.

These are offshore model numbers out at sea, not the waves breaking on the beach. Check your break with your own eyes before paddling out.

Fishing

The tuna are big right now. Gordo Banks Pangas' Sunday report has tuna at the Inner and Outer Gordo, mostly 50 to 100 pounds, including a 226-pound yellowfin on Sunday.

Out of Cabo San Lucas, Lands End Charters reported wahoo and dorado on Friday. Tomorrow night brings a last quarter moon, and the morning looks fair with a light breeze and building swell.

Peso check

One U.S. dollar buys about 18.7 pesos, and one Canadian dollar about 13.4. The Canadian dollar goes a little further than it did last week.

Those are market rates. Cash booths and shops in town usually pay a little under that, so ask before you trade.

Qué Pasa Cabo

Día de Muertos is on now at Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas and runs through tomorrow.

The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot follows, with check-in Wednesday and fishing Thursday and Friday.

Baja 1000 week begins in 7 days. The race starts on Avenida Centenario in San José del Cabo on Friday, November 13, 11 days from tonight, with motorcycles leaving at 1 AM and cars, trucks and side by sides at 9 AM.

Written from public weather, marine and hurricane data and the organizers' own reports. Surf numbers are offshore model readings, not breaking waves. For official alerts, follow Protección Civil Los Cabos. Got something happening? Tell Lobo.
