Fishing

Tuna are biting off Los Cabos, and a busy fishing week is almost here. Daliken Sportfishing's report from today has yellowfin tuna still excellent at 20 to 40 pounds, wahoo turning on, and sailfish numbers jumping around Gordo Banks and La Fortuna. Water temperatures there are around 82°F (28°C).

Out of Cabo San Lucas, Lands End Charters says the Picudo landed a striped marlin Monday, and on Friday one crew put three wahoo on the deck.

Tomorrow night brings a last quarter moon. With light wind and a small swell, the morning looks calm on the water.

Tropics

The tropics are quiet. According to the National Hurricane Center's outlook issued this morning, there are no storms and nothing to watch.

Tonight and tomorrow's weather

Sunset tonight is at 5:41 PM. It is cloudy and 81°F (27°C) at 6 PM, clearing to 75°F (24°C) by midnight, with a low of 71°F (22°C). No rain is expected.

Monday should be partly cloudy with a high of 88°F (31°C) and a low of 71°F (22°C). A light south-southeast breeze of around 8 mph is expected, with no rain, and the water is around 87°F (31°C).

Tuesday cools to 83°F (28°C), and Wednesday warms back up to 86°F (30°C).

Surf and Spot Check

The surf is small but starting to wake up. NOAA's wave model has Monday morning at about 2 feet at 5 seconds from the northwest, and building.

The Pacific side near Cerritos shows the most, at about 2.5 ft. East Cape is under 2 ft and the Corridor is about 1.5 ft. These are offshore model numbers, not what is breaking at the beach, so check your spot before you go.

Peso check

At Friday's market rate, one U.S. dollar buys about 18.9 pesos and one Canadian dollar about 13.5 pesos. Exchange houses and shops in town usually give a bit less, so check before you swap.

Qué Pasa Cabo

Día de Muertos celebrations are on now at Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas, through Tuesday. Today was fishing day for the Copa Presidente Marlini, the 8th edition of the tournament for local fishers.

The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot starts Wednesday in Cabo San Lucas. Teams fish Thursday and Friday, with weigh-ins on the marina from 3 to 6:30 PM each day, and an awards dinner Saturday at the cruise ship pier.

Baja 1000 week starts in San José del Cabo in 8 days. The race starts and finishes on Avenida Centenario, with the start on Friday, November 13. Road closures have not yet been announced.

Written from public weather, marine and hurricane data and the organizers' own reports. Surf numbers are offshore model readings, not breaking waves. For official alerts, follow Protección Civil Los Cabos. Got something happening? Tell Lobo.
