Los Cabos tuna are biting as a big fishing week nears

Yellowfin are excellent, the tropics are quiet and the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot starts Wednesday, with calm weather and a small swell on the way.

Tonight's report

¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! It's Lobo Los Cabos, live from the studio, and tonight's show is presented by Cabo Lifestyle Homes. Tonight, the tuna are biting and a big fishing week is almost here!

First, the tropics are quiet. As of NHC's outlook this morning, no storms and nothing to watch. Halloween's over, so I finally took off my costume. Oh wait. This is just me. Hijole!

Sunset tonight is at five forty-one. Eighty-one and cloudy at six, clearing to seventy-five by midnight, with a low of seventy-one. No rain.

Mañana, partly cloudy, a high of eighty-eight, a low of seventy-one, a light south-southeast breeze around eight miles an hour, no rain, and water around eighty-seven degrees.

Tuesday cools to eighty-three, Wednesday back up to eighty-six. Sweater season? Not yet, amigos.

Peso Check, at Friday's market rate: one U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point nine pesos, one Canadian dollar about thirteen point five. Exchange houses and shops in town usually give a bit less, so check before you swap.

Now the surf. Small, but it's waking up.

NOAA's wave model has tomorrow morning at about two feet, five seconds, out of the northwest, and building.

Spot Check: the Pacific side by Cerritos shows the most, about two and a half feet. East Cape under two feet, the Corridor about a foot and a half. Offshore model numbers, not what's breaking, so check your spot.

Longboard weather. Fishing is brought to you by East Cape Concierge: guided ATV tours up to full Baja UTV days, so you feel a little of what the Baja One Thousand racers feel. Plan ahead and send your ideas to eastcapeconcierge.com.

Daliken Sportfishing's report from today: yellowfin tuna still excellent at twenty to forty pounds, wahoo turning on, and sailfish numbers jumping around Gordo Banks and La Fortuna. Water around eighty-two.

Out of Cabo San Lucas, Lands End Charters says the Picudo landed a striped marlin Monday, and Friday one crew put three wahoo on the deck.

Three wahoo, órale! Tomorrow night brings a last quarter moon, and with light wind and small swell, the morning looks calm.

¿Qué pasa, Cabo? Here's what's happening around town.

Día de Muertos celebrations are on right now at Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas, through Tuesday. And today was fishing day for the Copa Presidente Marlini for local fishers.

The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot starts Wednesday, with fishing Thursday and Friday and weigh-ins on the marina. And Baja One Thousand week starts in San José in eight days.

Catrinas, tuna and race trucks. What a month, amigos.
