Los Cabos Gets Weekend Showers While Hurricane Vance Stays Far South
Showers arrive Saturday and heavy rain Sunday in Los Cabos, Vance is far away, and Bisbee's Black & Blue wraps up with awards.
Tonight's report
¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! It's Lobo Los Cabos, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by Cabo Lifestyle Homes. Tonight: a hurricane way down south, weekend showers, and Black and Blue wraps up.
First, the tropics. Hurricane Vance is out there, but it's a long way from us.
As of this afternoon's NHC advisory, Vance is a Category two with winds of one hundred five miles an hour, about nine hundred fifty miles south-southeast of Cabo, moving northwest at five miles an hour.
NHC expects it to become a major hurricane tonight, then slowly weaken Saturday night and Sunday, while moving slowly north-northwest or northwest.
No coastal watches or warnings right now, and we'll keep watching Vance for you every night, amigos.
Now, a heads up for anybody driving the back roads this weekend.
Mexico News Daily says Baja one thousand pre-running starts tomorrow. Teams will scout the course up the East Cape and down the Pacific side, so drive carefully and give race vehicles room.
My weekend plan? Sun, salt and a very serious nap. With these showers, the nap might win.
Mañana, Saturday, showers, a high of eighty-six and a low of seventy-four, a light south-southeast breeze around six miles an hour, and water at eighty-nine degrees.
Sunday brings heavy rain and a high of eighty-nine, then Monday turns partly cloudy, also around eighty-nine.
If Sunday's rain comes down hard, take it slow on the roads and skip the flooded dips, amigos.
Peso Check, as of today: a U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point eight pesos, a Canadian dollar about thirteen point four, a bit more than last week. Shops in town usually give less, so check first.
¡Qué onda, surfers! Let's check the water.
NOAA's wave model has tomorrow morning's swell at about three point seven feet, ten seconds, from the west-northwest and building, with a southeast swell near seven feet by Sunday.
Spot Check: the Pacific side by Cerritos shows the most, about three point eight feet. The Corridor about two point eight, the East Cape about one point two. Offshore model numbers, so check your spot.
If that Sunday swell comes in big, stay out unless you're experienced. Cuidado, amigos.
Fishing tonight is brought to you by East Cape Concierge, eastcapeconcierge.com. Fishing charters, Cabo Pulmo snorkel days, even rides from San José to Los Barriles.
Water's eighty-nine degrees, and tomorrow night's moon is nearly full, with the full moon in two days. Light wind and a modest swell, so the morning looks fairly calm.
And it's Black and Blue week out of the Cabo San Lucas marina! Today is the final fishing day.
According to Bisbee's, the bite's been slow. Thursday, thirteen marlin were caught, all but one released, and Never Say Never led with two blues, pending video confirmation.
Biggest fish is still Cantango Spartan's Revenge, a four hundred ninety-one pound blue from day one, worth one point nine million dollars, Bisbee's says. Awards are tomorrow.
Today's results post late, so we'll have them tomorrow night. And Día de Muertos on Playa El Médano is just eight days away!
