A beginner crew leads Bisbee's Black & Blue Day One, while Tropical Storm Vance stays far south and Friday brings warm showers to Los Cabos.
Tonight's report
¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! It's Lobo Los Cabos, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by Sancho's. Tonight, a first-time team lands a huge marlin, and a storm way down south is getting stronger.
Let's start in the tropics. Tropical Storm Vance is out there, and it is a long way from us.
As of NHC's afternoon advisory, Tropical Storm Vance has winds of sixty-five miles an hour. It's about four hundred ninety miles south-southwest of Acapulco, and about one thousand fifty miles from Los Cabos.
Vance is moving west-northwest at about five miles an hour. NHC expects a slow turn toward the northwest and north-northwest over the next few days.
NHC says Vance should become a hurricane tonight, and it could become a major hurricane by the weekend, with a fair amount of uncertainty in how strong it gets. No coastal watches or warnings are in effect. We'll keep an eye on it for you.
Here at home, Mexico News Daily reports Baja One Thousand pre-running starts this Saturday. Race teams will scout the nine hundred sixty-four mile Cabo to Cabo course, up the East Cape and back down the Pacific side.
So expect race vehicles on dirt roads and highways along the route. Drive carefully and give them room, amigos.
For our neighbors on the coast of southern and southwestern Mexico, NHC says swells from Vance should start arriving this weekend, likely causing life-threatening surf and rip currents. Follow your local weather office.
Mañana's weather is brought to you by Cabo Lifestyle Homes, powered by Ronival Real Estate. Kirk and Cindy Iverson know Cabo, from Pedregal to the East Cape. cabolifestylehomes.com.
Friday brings some showers, a high of eighty-nine and a low of seventy-five, with a light southeast breeze around seven miles an hour. The water is a warm eighty-nine degrees.
Saturday, showers and a high of eighty-seven. Sunday, showers and ninety. Even the pelicans are looking for shade.
Peso Check. One U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point eight pesos, and one Canadian dollar about thirteen point four. Both go a little further than last week, the Canadian dollar a bit more.
Always remember, cash exchange houses and shops in town usually give a bit less than that, so check before you swap.
Surf time! NOAA's wave model has small stuff tomorrow morning, but it's building.
Open water off the Cape shows about two point six feet at five seconds from the west-northwest.
Spot Check: the Pacific side near Cerritos shows the most, about two point eight feet. The Corridor, Zippers and Old Man's, about one point nine feet. The East Cape, around one foot from the west-southwest.
Remember, those are offshore model numbers, not what's breaking at the beach, so go check your spot. Longboard weather, amigos.
Fishing: the water is eighty-nine degrees, and tomorrow night's moon is waxing gibbous, three days from full. Light wind and small swell should make for a pretty calm morning.
And speaking of fishing, Black and Blue is on right now out of the Cabo San Lucas marina!
According to Bisbee's, Day One belonged to Cantango Spartan's Revenge, with a four hundred ninety-one pound marlin worth one point nine million dollars in prize money. A Bluish Hue won the Day One releases.
Friday is the last fishing day, with the weigh station at Puerto Paraíso open two to nine PM. Awards are Saturday.
A first-time team landing a fish like that? Órale, now that's beginner's luck!
Sancho's turns ten, and the party is on today, from nine AM until eleven PM, on the Cabo San Lucas marina between K and L Dock. Mike Grabow started at four, Victoria Stones at seven, plus limited-edition swag. Find them at sanchoscabo on Facebook and Instagram.
