Calm seas and quiet tropics greet Halloween weekend in Los Cabos
No storms are on the Hurricane Center's map, surf is small and steady, and Día de Muertos is underway on Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas.
Tropics
Halloween night arrives with nothing to watch in the eastern Pacific. As of the 11 AM outlook, the National Hurricane Center has no storms and nothing to watch out there.
Tonight and tomorrow's weather
Sunset tonight is at 5:42 PM. Skies are clear at 6 PM, then clouds roll in overnight, with temperatures easing to 72°F (22°C) by midnight and a low of 69°F (21°C).
Sunday, November 1, brings partly cloudy skies, a high of 85°F (29°C) and a low of 69°F (21°C). Wind is light from the southeast at around 7 mph, no rain is expected, and the water sits at 87°F (31°C). Monday looks a touch warmer at 86°F (30°C), and Tuesday reaches 84°F (29°C).
Surf and Spot Check
Small and steady is the word. NOAA's wave model has Sunday morning at about 1 ft at 5 seconds from the northwest, holding steady.
The Pacific side at Cerritos and the Corridor at Zippers and Old Man's show the most, just under 1 ft. The East Cape is under 0.5 ft. These are offshore model numbers, not breaking waves at the beach, so check your spot before you go.
Fishing
Lands End Charters' report from last Sunday says sailfish and dorado were good in the mornings off Cabo San Lucas, in 88°F (31°C) water.
On the San José side, Gordo Banks Pangas says tuna were spotty, but one charter landed a 180 pound tuna at Vinorama on a dead sardine.
A last quarter moon rises tomorrow night. With light wind and small swell, Sunday morning looks calm on the water.
Peso check
As of Friday's market rate, one U.S. dollar buys about 18.9 pesos, and one Canadian dollar about 13.5 pesos. Exchange houses and shops in town usually give a bit less, so check before you swap.
Qué Pasa Cabo
Día de Muertos is on now at Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas, through Tuesday. Local fishers hit the water Sunday for the Copa Presidente Marlini, chasing dorado, wahoo and tuna.
Race week for the SCORE Baja 1000 kicks off in 9 days in San José del Cabo, and the race starts Friday, November 13. Road closures have not been announced yet.
Written from public weather, marine and hurricane data and the organizers' own reports. Surf numbers are offshore model readings, not breaking waves. For official alerts, follow Protección Civil Los Cabos. Got something happening? Tell Lobo.
