Hurricane Trudy Weakening Southeast of Cabo, Black and Blue Starts Tomorrow

Sunday, October 18Watch on YouTube

Tonight's report

¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! Lobo here, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by True Tide AI. Hurricane Trudy is weakening southeast of us, and Black and Blue starts tomorrow. Órale, let's go.

Let's start in the tropics, because Trudy is the one everybody is asking about.

As of the two o'clock advisory this afternoon, Trudy is a Category two hurricane, with winds of one hundred miles an hour.

It's about one hundred eighty miles west-northwest of Manzanillo, roughly three hundred miles southeast of Cabo, moving northwest at six miles an hour.

Here's what matters for us, amigos.

NHC expects a turn to the west-northwest tonight, then Trudy moves slowly south of Baja California Sur on Monday and Tuesday.

Rapid weakening is expected to start tonight. By late Tuesday morning NHC has it down to forty-five miles an hour, and it could become a post-tropical low by Tuesday night.

Right now there are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. Mexico dropped all its warnings with the latest advisory, but NHC says Baja California Sur should keep monitoring Trudy.

So keep an eye on it, keep your phone charged, and follow Protección Civil. Cuidado, amigos.

And a thought for our neighbors on the mainland.

NHC says Jalisco could see an additional one to four inches of rain through tonight, which may bring localized flash flooding and mudslides, especially on steep terrain.

NHC also says Trudy's swells bring life-threatening surf and rip currents to southwestern and west-central Mexico for the next few days.

Okay, me? It's Sunday, so same plan as every Sunday: nap on the rock, flip over, nap on the other side. Here's mañana.

Monday in Los Cabos: some showers around, a high of ninety-two, a low of seventy-six, and an east-northeast breeze around ten miles an hour. The water is a warm eighty-eight degrees.

Tuesday goes partly cloudy at ninety-one, and Wednesday partly cloudy at eighty-nine.

Hot one, amigos. Even the pelicans are looking for shade.

Peso Check. As of Friday, one U.S. dollar buys about eighteen point four pesos, and one Canadian dollar about thirteen. Your dollar goes a little further than last week.

Just remember, exchange houses and shops in town usually give a bit less, so check before you swap.

Now the surf, my favorite part.

NOAA's wave model shows about six and a half feet offshore tomorrow morning, at fifteen seconds from the south-southwest, and dropping.

Spot Check: Pacific side by Cerritos about six feet, the Corridor at Zippers and Punta Perfecta about six and a half, and the East Cape at La Fortuna and Nine Palms about six. The Corridor shows the most.

Those are offshore model numbers, not what's breaking at the beach, so check your spot. Big surf out there, so stay out if you are not experienced.

Fishing: water at eighty-eight degrees, a first quarter moon tomorrow night, seven days to the full moon. Wind around ten miles an hour plus that leftover swell, so a bumpy morning.

Coming up, brought to you by Sancho's on the marina, @sanchoscabo on Facebook and Instagram. Sancho's turns ten with a big party this Thursday!

Bisbee's Black and Blue starts tomorrow out of the Cabo San Lucas marina. Each fishing day ends with the weigh-in at the scales at the marina in the evening.

And Día de Muertos on Playa El Médano in Cabo San Lucas starts in thirteen days.

Big week on the water, amigos.
