Simon Fades Off Cabo, Hurricane Trudy Heads for Mainland Mexico, Bisbee's LCO Update

Friday, October 16Watch on YouTube

Tonight's report

¡Buenas noches, Los Cabos! Lobo here, live from the rock, and tonight's show is presented by True Tide AI. Simon is fading away off our coast, Trudy is aiming for the mainland, and Bisbee's has a new leader!

Okay, amigos, the tropics. Two storms tonight, and here's the latest as of NHC's afternoon advisories, two o'clock our time. Calm and clear, let's go.

NHC now calls it the remnants of Simon, about one hundred miles south-southwest of Cabo San Lucas, winds near thirty-five miles an hour, moving northwest at thirteen. No coastal watches or warnings.

NHC says Simon should run parallel to our coast and fall apart by late tonight or early tomorrow morning. That was the final advisory. Adiós, Simon!

But NHC says Simon's swells could affect parts of Baja California Sur over the next day or so, likely causing life-threatening surf and rip currents.

So that's big, stormy surf, amigos. If you are not experienced, stay out of the water. Rip currents don't care how good you are. Even Lobo is watching from the rock on this one. Now Hurricane Trudy, Category one, winds near eighty-five. It's about two hundred twenty-five miles southwest of Acapulco, roughly seven hundred forty miles southeast of us, moving north-northwest at five.

NHC forecasts a turn northwest, a bit faster, approaching the coast of southwestern and west-central Mexico Saturday and passing near it Saturday night into Sunday.

Trudy's a slow mover right now, but NHC has it picking up speed. Here's how strong it gets.

Slight strengthening is possible Saturday and Saturday night. After that, NHC expects steady weakening, a track more west-northwest, and eventually a remnant low.

Now our neighbors on the mainland. Lots of us have friends and family down there, so this part's for you.

NHC lists a Hurricane Warning from Manzanillo north to Cabo Corrientes, a Hurricane Watch from Manzanillo south to Punta San Telmo, and a Tropical Storm Warning from Manzanillo south to Zihuatanejo.

A Tropical Storm Watch runs north of Cabo Corrientes to San Blas. NHC expects four to eight inches of rain, isolated totals around fifteen, in Michoacán, Colima and Jalisco.

NHC says that rain may bring life-threatening flooding and mudslides, and more warnings are likely tonight. If you've got family on that coast, give them a call.

Back home, mañana looks sweet, amigos.

Saturday, partly cloudy, high eighty-eight, low seventy-five, light east-southeast wind around seven, no rain in the forecast. Water's a toasty eighty-eight. Sunday hits ninety-two, Monday ninety.

The fishing report is brought to you by East Cape Concierge, eastcapeconcierge.com. Fishing charters, snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo, even a private chef at your casa!

Water's eighty-eight degrees, tomorrow night's a first quarter moon, nine days to full, and the wind looks light, around seven.

Mind Simon's leftover swell out there. And no catch reports from Lobo yet, I just eat what they throw me. Let's go to the scales!

Bisbee's Los Cabos Offshore is on this week out of the Cabo San Lucas marina. According to Bisbee's, after Thursday, Team Trixie leads with a three hundred thirty-four pound black marlin.

Diggin Bills weighed a three hundred two pound blue, and PrimeTime has a forty-six and a half pound dorado, according to Bisbee's.

¡Órale, what a week! And Bisbee's Black and Blue starts in just three days, on Monday, same marina. Check with the organizers for any weather changes.
